Last Weekend's Operation Safer Streets Initiative Resulted in 18 Arrests



Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets neighborhood safety initiative, which took place on Friday and Saturday, resulted in 18 arrests, 12 misdemeanors, one felony, and six warrants served.  One gun was seized.        

At least twice a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the eight precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and quality of life issues in various areas of Nashville.        

Friday’s enforcement consisted of two detective, two supervisors, and nine officers.  Areas of focus included Nolensville Pike, Thompson Lane, Harding Place, 51st Avenue North, and Lafayette Street.        

Saturday’s enforcement consisted of five detectives, five supervisors, and eleven officers.  Areas of focus included Shelby Avenue, North 1st Street, Spring Street, Pennock Avenue, Douglas Avenue, Bell Road, Pin Hook Road, and Cleveland Street.      

So far this year, Operation Safer Streets has resulted in 870 arrests on 127 felony charges and 771 misdemeanor charges, 22 gun seizures, the service of 419 outstanding warrants, 85 field interviews of persons believed to have gang knowledge, and 4,632 vehicle stops in areas with a gang presence.
