Meth and Marijuana on Bus From Atlanta Intercepted by MNPD and DEA
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A continuing investigation by the MNPD’s Major Case Task Force and the DEA led to Tuesday night’s seizure of four pounds of methamphetamine and one pound of marijuana that arrived in downtown Nashville by bus from Atlanta.
The meth and marijuana was concealed in luggage retrieved by Iesha Unique Marquez, 22, of Fairburn, Georgia, who disembarked at the Megabus stop on 5th Avenue. Marquez subsequently told undercover detectives that she was being paid $2,300 to transport the drugs here, and that this was the first time she had done so. She said that a 16-year-old girl traveling with her was to receive $500 of the $2300.
Marquez is charged with possession of meth and marijuana for resale. She is being held in lieu of $30,000 bond. The 16-year-old girl was taken to juvenile detention.
