Murder Warrants Issued for December 21st Targeted Fatal Shooting Outside North Nashville Z-Mart
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
North Precinct detectives this afternoon are charging Jamil Toure Holloway, 23, with criminal homicide for the December 21st targeted murder of Louis Lisi, 56, outside the Z-Mart convenience store at 26th Avenue North & Clarksville Pike.
Holloway was taken into custody earlier in the day at a residence on Jo Johnston Avenue.
An arrest warrant is also being issued charging Mardeus Phillips, 24, with criminal homicide. Both Holloway and Phillips are alleged to have fired pistols outside the market. Anyone seeing Phillips or knowing his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
Information from the community helped identify Holloway and Phillips, who were in the store prior to the shooting. Lead detective Jason Frank focused on their images from the store’s surveillance system after noting that their clothing closely resembled that worn by the gunmen.
Detective Frank’s investigation shows that Lisi, of Murfreesboro, was in a trailer outside the store operating a game of chance. William Fox, 64, of Nashville, was seated in a car near the trailer and was acting as security for Lisi. Holloway and possibly Phillips are believed to have lost money to Lisi earlier in the evening. They are alleged to have returned and opened fire. Lisi was fatally wounded and died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Fox was shot in the car. He was treated and released from Vanderbilt.
