Man Fatally Shot After Apparent Exchange of Gunfire on I-65



East Precinct detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Sunday’s early morning apparent exchange of gunfire between persons in two vehicles which claimed the life of David L. Marsh, 20, of W. Hamilton Avenue.

Marsh was driving a white Chevrolet Malibu northbound on I-65 and after being struck by gunfire, managed to pull over near Trinity Lane at 6 a.m. His passenger, Antonio Wilkins, 23, was also struck. Marsh and Wilkins were both transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where Marsh died.

Wilkins reported that shots were fired at them from a passing vehicle. The Malibu was struck by multiple rounds. Wilkins, who was treated and released for his injuries, is currently jailed on two misdemeanor probation violation warrants related to a 2015 drug possession conviction.
