Last Weekend's Operation Safer Streets Initiative Resulted in 24 Arrests



Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets neighborhood safety initiative, which took place on Friday and Saturday, resulted in 24 arrests, 17 misdemeanors, one felony, and 16 warrants served.         

At least twice a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the eight precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and quality of life issues in various areas of Nashville.     

Friday’s enforcement consisted of four detectives, four supervisors, and 17 officers.  Areas of focus included County Hospital Road, Dr. D.B. Todd Boulevard, Lafayette Street, Dickerson Pike, and 3rd Avenue South.      

Saturday’s enforcement consisted of six detectives, three supervisors, and 17 officers.  Areas of focus included Haywood Lane, 26th Avenue North, Nolensville Pike, and Perkins Street.       

So far this year, Operation Safer Streets has resulted in 193 arrests on 16 felony charges and 174 misdemeanor charges, the service of  95 outstanding warrants, 16 field interviews of persons believed to have gang knowledge, and 907 vehicle stops in areas with a gang presence.
