Last Weekend's Operation Safer Streets Initiative Resulted in 33 Arrests



Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets neighborhood safety initiative, which took place on Friday and Saturday, resulted in 33 arrests, 32 misdemeanors, one felony, and eleven warrants served.       

At least twice a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the eight precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and quality of life issues in various areas of Nashville.        

Friday’s enforcement consisted of four detectives, six supervisors, and 15 officers.  Areas of focus included Haywood Lane, Apache Trail, Bell Road, and Nolensville Pike.     

Saturday’s enforcement consisted of four detectives, five supervisors, and 22 officers.  Areas of focus included Jefferson Street, Dickerson Pike, Trinity Lane, Murfreesboro Pike, and 2nd Avenue.       

So far this year, Operation Safer Streets has resulted in 226 arrests on 17 felony charges and 205 misdemeanor charges, the service of  106 outstanding warrants, 16 field interviews of persons believed to have gang knowledge, and 1,074 vehicle stops in areas with a gang presence.
