Program meets need for vulnerable citizens of Davidson County during the summer
Nashville, TN— The summer months in Nashville can be just as dangerous as brutally cold temperatures for elderly, disabled or residents with medical conditions.
Every year from May 1 through August 31 the Metropolitan Action Commission provides free fans and air conditioners to income eligible senior citizens (62 years or older), disabled or households with children under the age of 6 years old with a severe medical condition.
To qualify under medical necessity, applicants must provide a statement of need from their doctor. The Fan and Air Conditioner Program application period ends August 30.
All applicants must provide a social security card for everyone in the household and proof of income for the past 8 weeks. If disabled applicants must submit proof of Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) or Social Security Income (SSI). This documentation is needed to ensure the household income does not exceed the federal income guideline.
