Officers Throughout the City on the Lookout for Two Murderers who Shot Two Persons Outside Gallatin Ave Bar

Officers throughout the city are on the lookout for a small late model Chevrolet car in which two murderers fled after fatally shooting two people in the parking lot of Cobra Nashville bar, 2511 Gallatin Avenue, at 3:26 a.m. today.

The deceased are identified as Bartley Teal, 33, and Jaime Sarrantonio, 30, both of Nashville. Teal died during surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Sarrantonio died shortly after arriving at Skyline Medical Center. Two other robbery victims with Teal and Sarrantonio, a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, were not shot.

The investigation shows that the four innocent victims left the bar on foot at approximately 3 a.m. and walked to a nearby convenience store to purchase snacks. Detectives believe the murderers, described as two black men, at least one of them with dreads, were randomly looking for robbery victims and targeted the four when they arrived back at the Cobra parking lot. Witnesses reported that the murderers demanded Teal’s belongings and shot him when he replied that he didn’t have anything. It is unclear why they killed Sarrantonio.

After the gunfire, the murderers fled in the small Chevrolet car to North Nashville, where they dumped the victims’ belongings in an obscure alley in the 1400 block of 23rd Avenue North. It appears likely that they were familiar with the 23rd Avenue North/Heiman Street area.

This morning’s double murder has similarities to Tuesday morning’s fatal shooting of Kendall Rice, 31, who was killed during an apparent robbery while walking on Alta Loma Road to catch an MTA bus to go to work.

Anyone with information on the murderers or the small Chevrolet car is asked to immediately contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
