Pedestrian Fatally Injured Tuesday Night on Old Hickory Boulevard in Hermitage Identified

The pedestrian fatally injured after being struck by an SUV Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the 4900 block of Old Hickory Boulevard in Hermitage is identified as Doris Tyler McElroy, 57.

The preliminary investigation shows that McElroy and her daughter, Page Tyler, 21, were attempting to cross Old Hickory Boulevard when McElroy was struck by a 2010 Mercedes SUV being driven by Robin Reding, 54, of Mount Juliet. McElroy and her daughter were reportedly walking toward the Firestone at 4920 Old Hickory Boulevard where they had parked their vehicle. Page Tyler was not injured. They were not in a crosswalk and were crossing in a poorly lit area. Reding reported that she was unable to avoid the collision. McElroy was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.

There was no indication at the scene of drug or alcohol involvement in this fatal crash. No charges are anticipated.
