Sobriety Checkpoint Planned for St. Patrick's Day
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Metro police officers will be staffing a sobriety checkpoint on Gallatin Pike just east of downtown on the night of Sunday, March 17th, as part of the MNPD’s effort to enhance traffic safety in recognition that St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and parties are sometimes accompanied by excessive drinking.
The checkpoint, from 10 p.m. to midnight, will be staffed by the DUI Unit along with extra-duty officers working through a grant from the Governor’s Highway Safety Office.
Those celebrating St. Patrick’s Day are strongly urged to not drink and drive. Officers throughout the city will be closely watching for impaired and/or aggressive motorists.
