Active Leads Being Pursued in Wednesday Night's Murder of Deroe Jones in Nashboro Village Subdivision



The man fatally shot inside an apartment at 129 Village Green Drive in the Nashboro Village subdivision Wednesday evening has been positively identified as Deroe Dontarris Jones, 30. A potential drug motive is under investigation.

Hermitage Precinct officers were called to the residence at 6:12 p.m. They found Jones suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. He died at the scene. Marijuana, a white powder and electronic scales were found inside the apartment.

Witnesses have told detectives that the gunfire occurred just after two as yet unidentified men knocked on the door and entered. The two reportedly fled the area in a green car, possibly a Chevrolet Camaro or Dodge Charger.

Detectives are pursuing active leads.
