Man Fatally Wounded Outside Motel



Hermitage Precinct detectives are pursuing a number of leads as they work to identify the gunman responsible for Saturday afternoon’s murder of a man outside the Red Roof Inn on Claridge Drive.

Based on information developed thus far, the victim is not believed to be from this area. His identity has not yet been positively confirmed.

Officers responded to the shots fired call at 2:02 p.m. Detectives know that the victim was involved in an altercation with the gunman, which resulted in him being fatally wounded. The shooter and an associate fled the motel property on foot. The victim died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A drug-related motive is under investigation.
