Saturday Evening's Drowning Death of a 5-Year-Old Boy in South Nashville Appears to be Accidental
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Saturday evening’s drowning death of a 5-year-old boy in a swimming pool on Cedarview Drive appears at this point to be accidental.
South Precinct officers responded to the home just before 6 p.m. and assisted in attempting to revive A’Regis Scales. He was rushed to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation by Youth Services detectives shows that A’Regis was attending a family get together at his grandmother’s home along with multiple adults and children. The children were playing outside and running back and forth between a hot tub and the pool. When the grandmother came outside looking for A’Regis, he was found submerged near the shallow end of the pool. He was quickly removed and CPR efforts were begun.
