Man Killed in Single-Car Crash on I-40 in West Nashville

The man killed at 11:20 p.m. Saturday in a single-car crash on I-40 east just prior to the Charlotte Pike exit is identified as Eric J. Chapman, 40, of Nashville.
As Chapman negotiated a curve in a 2012 Nissan Versa, the car left the right side of the roadway and struck the end of guardrail. The car then overturned and came to rest on its roof. Chapman was found outside of the car and may have been ejected. He was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Toxicology testing will be conducted by the Medical Examiner to determine whether impairment was a factor in the crash.
