Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with SUV on Rosa L. Parks Blvd at Athens Way
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
This afternoon’s collision between a Yamaha motorcycle and an Audi SUV on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard at Athens Way claimed the life of the 51-year-old motorcyclist. Efforts are continuing to locate his next of kin.
The Audi Q7, driven by Glenn Martin, 58, of Goodlettsville, was making a left turn onto Athens Way from Rosa L. Parks Boulevard. The motorcyclist had been stopped at the Rosa L. Parks Boulevard red light at Vantage Way. When the light turned green, witnesses reported that the motorcycle accelerated aggressively toward Athens Way. Despite the motorcyclist attempting evasive action, the motorcycle struck the passenger door of the Audi. He became lodged underneath the vehicle and was pronounced dead on arrival at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The preliminary contributing factor to this fatal crash appears to be excessive speed on the part of the motorcyclist.
