Metro Animal Care and Control Adoption Event and Foster Opportunity for Thanksgiving

11/21/2019

No one should spend Thanksgiving alone, especially shelter pets. Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC) is gearing up for the "Home Fur Thanksgiving" event, where all adoption fees will be waived November 21-27. The shelter will be closed November 28-29.

If residents aren't looking to adopt at this time, they can also help a shelter dog have a warm and relaxing holiday by participating in the "Thanksgiving at Your Place" Bow Wow Breakout event. Adoptable dogs will be available to pick up on Wednesday, November 27, and can return to the shelter as early as Saturday, November 30. This short-term foster opportunity gives the dogs a break from the shelter, and volunteers will help the shelter learn more about their personalities that will allow them be matched to a forever home. All supplies are provided by Metro Animal Care and Control.

"We are so thankful each year for the community support for homeless pets around the holidays," says Dr. Staci Cannon, medical director at Metro Animal Care and Control. "Our shelter dogs would greatly benefit from a few nights snuggled into a foster home for Thanksgiving! It's easy to help out, and the pets will be grateful to join your family for the holiday while the shelter is closed."

Metro Animal Care and Control is located at 5125 Harding Place. Metro Animal Care and Control is open for adoption Monday-Wednesday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Friday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. All adoptable dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.
