Detectives Investigating Tuesday Night's Fatal Shooting of Marchellos Devens

North Precinct detectives are investigating the New Year’s Eve fatal shooting of Marchellos Devens, 18, who was found critically wounded inside a rented Nissan Altima stopped on the side of the I-65 South exit ramp onto Rosa L. Parks Boulevard.
Officers responded to the scene at 11:50 p.m. after a caller to 911 reported that Devens was deceased inside the car. Devens, who was alone inside the Altima, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
Officers recovered a ski mask, latex gloves, an empty pistol magazine, and shell casings from the Altima. Several men reportedly got out of the Altima prior to police arrival and were picked up by a separate vehicle.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation as does the actual location of the shooting.
