Pedestrian Fatally Injured While Crossing Charlotte Pike

The pedestrian fatally injured late Thursday afternoon as she attempted to cross Charlotte Pike in the 6300 block has been identified as a 38-year-old woman who lived on Watts Circle. Efforts are continuing to notify her family out of state.

The victim was crossing Charlotte Pike near the intersection of Watts Lane when she was hit by a 2008 Honda Civic driven by Beshoy Mahrous Iskander, 27, of Antioch. The Honda had the green light at the intersection. The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital where she died. There were no indications of impairment in regard to either party.

The preliminary contributing factor to the collision is the pedestrian being in the roadway.
