Pickup Truck Driver Charged for This Afternoon's Collision that Killed Motorcyclist

Nashvillian Tracy Humphreys, 57, has been charged with failure to yield the right of way resulting in death for this afternoon’s collision involving his pickup truck and a motorcycle on Buchanan Street at 16th Avenue North that resulted in fatal injuries to the motorcyclist. Christopher Crowder, 34, of Nashville, died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The investigation shows that Crowder was traveling east on Buchanan Street on a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle when Humphreys, driving a 2011 Nissan Tundra pickup truck, pulled onto the street from a parking lot and struck the motorcycle.

The charge against Humphreys is a misdemeanor. Under Tennessee law, he qualified for the issuance of a state citation in lieu of physical arrest.
