On Monday (March 30), the Metropolitan Action Commission will end face to face customer service. However, the agency will remain open and customers will have a drop box option for all applications and supporting documentation.
“It is important to us to make sure we are here for our customers during what has been a two-fold emergency in our community. This modification will allow us to continue service while taking additional precautions to keep both our customers and our team safe,” said Dr. Cynthia Croom, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Action Commission.
Earlier this month Nashville experienced a city-wide impact due to tornado damage, followed by the impact of COVID 19, which has resulted in reduced or no pay for many residents of Nashville and Davidson County.
The Metropolitan Action Commission receives federal funding through the Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) to help with rent, mortgage and rental, property taxes and utility deposits. The agency also receives funding through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to help with utility payments such as electric and natural gas.
Applications will be available for pick up at the drop box in the agency’s lobby. Customers may also mail their information to Metro Action by downloading the application from the agency’s website (www.nashville.gov/mac). Applications can be sent by mail or drop inside the on-site drop box.
Applications must include the requested supporting documentation. The complete listing of required documentation is on the agency’s webpage and payments are made directly to the business.
All programs require income eligibility based on the federal poverty income guidelines. For example, a family of three with an income at or below $31,995 would be eligible. For a complete list of income eligibility requirements, applicants should visit the Metro Action website (www.nashville.gov/mac).
In addition to income eligibility, applicants are served once during the current application period, which began October 1, 2019 and ends September 30, 2020. However, if someone has been assisted, but has been impacted by the tornado or COVID 19, they are still urged to contact Metro Action.
