Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash on I-24 Identified
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The driver killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday at 8:50 a.m. on I-24 West is identified as Joseph A. Jones, 27, of Hermitage.
The preliminary investigation shows that Jones was driving his 2005 Mercury Sable on I-24 West when he attempted to negotiate the curve at the split to take I-40 East, traveled off the roadway, and struck a rock wall. Jones, who was wearing his seatbelt, died at the scene.
There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene. The preliminary contributing factor to this fatal crash appears to be speed too fast for wet road conditions.
