Single-Vehicle Crash on I-40 Claims Nashville Man
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The man killed in Sunday’s single-vehicle crash on I-40 East at the Demonbreun Street Bridge is identified as Floyd Heughan, 60, of Nashville.
The preliminary investigation shows that Heughan was driving his 1997 Ford Econoline van east on I-40 when, for reasons unknown, he traveled off the roadway at 7:30 p.m., striking a concrete wall. The van then crossed over all three lanes of travel and collided with the center median. Heughan, who not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died.
Toxicology testing will be conducted to determine whether impairment was a factor in the crash.
