Nashville District Energy System COVID-19 Update

Billing Deferment and Late Fees

The Nashville District Energy System (NDES) is committed to serving its customers with needed chilled water, steam and hot water services through this time of COVID-19 related challenges. As such, NDES will not assess late fees or disconnect services to our customers through the end of May, 2020.

Customers facing financial hardship during these trying times will be allowed to defer 75% of their bills for a two month period by calling Dan Coyle, at 615-264-2611 or by emailing him at dcoyle@thermalegi.com.

To receive consideration for deferral, customers must document financial hardship by showing at least 25% reduction in revenue over the previous month period. Account balances that are deferred will be evenly spread out over a 12-month period.

Ongoing Plant Operations

Thermal Engineering Group, Inc. as the NDES Project Administrator continues to monitor operations with the contract operator and communicate with customers.

Constellation, the operating contractor for the Nashville’s District Energy System (NDES), is committed to providing safe, uninterrupted operational service to all NDES customers through the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Staff is following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control, practicing social distancing, enhancing cleaning protocols, following all travel restrictions, and limiting the size of internal and external meetings and gatherings. Essential employees who regularly interact with customers have the appropriate equipment and training to perform their jobs safely. Through its parent company, Exelon, Constellation is closely monitoring developments related to COVID-19, providing personal protective equipment when required, and prepared to call upon trained back-up personnel as needed.
