Detectives Investigating Fatal Shooting of Woman on Cumberland Avenue



Madison Precinct detectives are investigating Friday’s 11:30 p.m. fatal shooting of Kayla Phillips-Coker, 26, in the 100 block of Cumberland Avenue.

Phillips-Coker, of Nashville, had reportedly been visiting acquaintances at a house on Cumberland Avenue when she left to walk to a convenience store. She was apparently shot as she was walking back to the residence. According to witnesses, she ran into the house before collapsing. Phillips-Coker, who was struck once in the abdomen, was transported to Skyline Medical Center where she died.
