FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
East Precinct detectives are working to identify two gunmen involved in Sunday night’s apparent targeted shooting of Derontae Teasley, 26, in the 500 block of South 8th Street in the Cayce Place public housing development.
Teasley, of Carroll Street, was among a group of people gathered in a breezeway when the suspects walked up to him at 9:25 p.m. and began firing. Teasley, who was struck multiple times, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died.
Two other innocent bystanders, a 41-year-old man and six-year-old boy, were each struck in the leg. They both sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The suspects are described only as black men in their 20s. Both wore surgical masks. They may have fled in a dark grey four door sedan.
