Detectives Working to Identify Gunmen who Fired into 4th of July Gathering, Killing Maurice Bowers

North Precinct detectives are working to identify two gunmen who Saturday night fired indiscriminately into a group of people outside a house in the 500 block of Phipps Drive, striking and fatally injuring Maurice Bowers, 31.
According to witnesses, Bowers was attending a party at the residence when the gunmen began firing into the crowd, striking him. Bowers was driven by personal vehicle to Skyline Medical Center where he died.

The gunman who is seen running from the suspect car, a dark Dodge Dart, is a black man with approximately 6” long twists in his hair.
The motive for this fatal shooting, and whether Bowers was the intended target, remains under investigation.
