Centennial Youth Ballet Summer Maintenance Classes for 10 to 18 years old

  • June 17-July 25, 2019
  • Students should take classes in the level they will be taking in Fall 2019
  • Classes in Intermediate I, II, III and Advanced I, II, III are available on a daily or weekly drop-in basis

Centennial Youth Ballet Summer Intensive for 12 to 18 years old

Join us for an immersive dance experience for intermediate and advanced teen dancers with a ballet background. Dancers train in a wide range of styles and approaches that reflect the professional dance world today including: body work and conditioning to develop a deeper sense of body awareness and long-lasting and healthy movement practices; rigorous and invigorating classical ballet technique, pointe work, character and repertory; workshops in injury prevention, ballet history, music, and choreography; modern technique, and theater dance or West African. The intensive culminates in a showing for family and friends. Students must have taken classical ballet for the previous three years.

Centennial Youth Ballet Junior Intensive for 10-13 years old

This program is a wonderful way for students to transition into a more rigorous training environment over the summer, work with guest faculty, and challenge themselves in a supportive and healthy environment. Students take ballet technique and variations, enrichment techniques including Music for Dancers and dance improvisation games for character development, and an injury prevention and nutrition workshop that gives students information on how to make it through long rehearsal days and take care of their bodies. Appropriate for students enrolled in Ballet: Intermediate I, II, or III during the 2018/19 school year.

Creative Dance Camps for 3-5 years old

  • Session 1: June 17-20
  • Session 2: July 22-25
  • 3-4 1/2 years old: Monday-Thursday, 9:00-10:30 a.m.
  • 4 1/2-5 years old: Monday-Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Little dancers leap and twirl as they are introduced to the concepts of grace, line, posture, stretch and creative improvisation. Basic elements of ballet warm-ups and traveling steps are taught in a developmentally appropriate way that includes creative improvisation and expressive dancing inspired by stories, songs and nature. Snack, craft, and story time included. Students must be the minimum age by June 1, 2019.

Pre-Ballet for 6-7 years old

Ballet: Beginning II/III for 8-10 years old

From the Ground Up for 8-10 years old

  • June 24-28
  • Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

From the Ground Up is designed to challenge campers in all four major art disciplines: dance, music, theater, and visual arts. Using their own ideas and imaginations to work together, campers will discover what it takes to write a song, create choreography, construct a piece of art, and bring a story to life onstage. Instructors will give campers guidance to create art from the ground up, but what they create is up to them.

Don’t Worry, Be Tappy for 8-12 years old

  • 8-11 years old: July 22-26, 2019

Calling all Broadway babies! Dancers who love the spotlight will love this camp that introduces them to the fundamentals of theater, jazz, and tap dance and refines their skills in coordination, rhythm, and stage presence. Appropriate for beginners and more experienced dancers.

Advanced Contemporary and Composition Workshop for 12 to 18 years old

Students learn to engage the whole body through contemporary technique, create original movement individually and with partners, and dive deeper into the composition process through a series of imaginative movement exercises. Instructor Emma Morrison is a member of Nashville-based contemporary company, New Dialect, led by artistic director, Banning Bouldin. Students should have three years of recent experience in contemporary, modern, composition, or classical ballet training.
