Greenways and Open Space Commission

The Greenways Commission of Metro Parks is charged with the planning and development of greenways and acquiring Open Space for future development of parks and greenways throughout Davidson County.

Established in 1992 to be advisory to the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, the commission is comprised of eight Mayor-appointed citizens, four Metro Council members, and representatives of the Park Board, Planning Commission, Metropolitan Development & Housing Agency, Water Services and Public Works Department. The Commission is served by two Metro Parks staff members.

Friends Group

Greenways for Nashville, a vital friends group to the Greenways Commission, is a citizen-based non-profit advocacy group devoted to enhancing and advancing greenways. For information on becoming a member or making a donation, as well as volunteer opportunities, visit Greenways for Nashville.
