Manager, Multimodal Transportation Planning
Michael Briggs joined the Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County Planning Department as a Transportation Planner in August 2010 and was named to lead the new Multimodal Transportation Planning division in August 2017. This division collaborates between Metro Nashville Public Works and Planning to implement the city’s transportation plans by aligning street, transit, walking, and biking needs to the city’s overall growth vision. Nashville Connector, a new Transportation Demand Management program which encourages employers to offer a variety of commute options, was recently launched within this division.
Michael previously spent two years as the County Planner for Sumner County, Tennessee, and four years as a Transportation Planner at the Mid-America Regional Council in Kansas City. He began his transportation career at the Barren River Area Development District in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Michael is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and was recognized by Walk Bike Nashville in 2016 with the Government Official of the Year award. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography and a master’s degree in Geoscience from Western Kentucky University.
