About Lt. Mickey Yentes
Lieutenant Mickey Yentes joined the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department in 2003. He has served as a Patrol Officer, Precinct Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Flex Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Training Academy Lieutenant. He now serves as the Lieutenant over the Tactical Operations Section which includes the Aviation, K-9, and Horse Mounted Patrol Units. Lt Yentes is also the Field Commander of the Crisis Negotiator Team assisting the department in their response to emergency critical incidents.
Mickey holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia Southern University, and an Associate’s Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology from North Central Institute. Mickey is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum - Senior Management Institute for Police, Northwestern University Center for Public Safety - School of Police Staff and Command (NSPSC), and Force Science Institute. Mickey has an FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter Pilot’s License, Remote Pilot rating, and Airframe Mechanic rating.
Prior to joining the police department, Mickey served 6 years in the US Army and is a decorated veteran of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Operation Joint Endeavor, Kuwait – Operation Southern Watch, and Afghanistan – Operation Enduring Freedom.
Mickey is a member of the following associations: Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), United States Police Canine Association (USPCA), and Airborne Public Safety Association (APSA).
