Mayor Dean, Buena Vista Students Launch Bigger and Better Recycle & Win Initiative

(November 15, 2012) — Nashville Mayor Karl Dean was joined by 4th grade students from Buena Vista Enhanced Option Elementary School to celebrate America Recycles Day by kicking off another Recycle & Win program in Metro.

The kick–off event was held at the Kroger Store on the corner of Monroe Street and Rosa Parks Blvd.

Coca–Cola, Kroger, and Metro Nashville Public Works are involved in the program, which starts on December 3, 2012 and runs through June 2, 2013. Coke is sponsoring the initiative to increase awareness for recycling, to increase recycling rates and educate all citizens of the Nashville area on the proper way to recycle.

Like last year’s Recycle & Win program, Metro residents who recycle properly can be rewarded with a $50 gift card from Kroger. The Recycle and Win Patrol team will randomly visit neighborhoods throughout the USD area looking for recycling carts with opt–in stickers.

For all other residents of Davidson County, Coca–Cola and Public Works will sponsor 4 "Recycle & Win Events" where residents can be entered in a drawing to win a Kroger gift card. There is also an online program for all residents of Nashville, which involves an online pledge for your chance to win a Kroger gift card.
