Private Collection Permits
Pursuant to the Metropolitan Code 10.20.100, any person/business collecting, hauling, transporting or processing garbage, rubbish, construction and demolition or industrial waste within a mobile waste container (dumpster, roll-off, compactor) or by means of a vehicle on any public highway, road, street or alley within the limits of the Metropolitan Government shall obtain a private collection permit from the Public Works Department for all vehicles and mobile waste containers.
Businesses applying for vehicle and mobile waste container permits must complete a Private Collection Permit Application and submit payment to the Metro Waste Services Division at:

Vehicle Permits and Fees
All collection vehicles must be permitted annually with the Public Works Department. To receive a permit, the following information on each vehicle must be submitted with payment to the Public Works Department. Businesses with more that 10 vehicles will need to complete and submit the Vehicle Permit Form electronically.
- Company truck number
- Vehicle make and model
- Body type
- Capacity (in cubic yards)
- License number
- Metro Vehicle Permit number (to be submitted after decals have been affixed to collection vehicles)
Vehicle Permit Fee Schedule
- $60/vehicle - Vehicles with less than 3 cubic yards capacity
- $120/vehicle - Vehicles in excess of 3 cubic cards capacity
Once Public Works has received the vehicle list and payment for vehicle permits, permit decals will be issued. Each vehicle must have the vehicle permit for that year displayed on the driver-side windshield of the vehicle. Vehicle permits are valid for 12 months, from July 1st through June 30th. Companies adding vehicles to their fleet during the 12 month period must apply for a vehicle permit and pay prorated fees.

Mobile Waste Container Permits and Fees
A mobile waste container is defined as a container used for storing or transporting waste materials to a disposal or transfer/processing point. Mobile waste containers include containers commonly known as dumpster and roll-off containers in excess of 2 cubic yards capacity.
To receive mobile waste container permits, the following information on each container must be submitted with payment to the Public Works Department. Businesses with more that 20 mobile waste containers will need to Complete and submit the Mobile Waste Container Permit Form electronically.
- Container type (dumpster, roll-off, compactor)
- Container size (cubic yards)
- Container location:
- Business name
- Metro Mobile Waste Container Permit number (to be submitted after decals have been affixed to containers)
Mobile Waste Container Permit Fee Schedule
- $12/container - Mobile waste containers in excess of 2 cubic cards capacity
Once Public Works has received the mobile waste container list and payment for container permits, permit decals will be issued. Each mobile waste container must have the permit for that year displayed on the front right side of the container. Mobile waste container permits are valid for 12 months, from July 1st through June 30th. Companies adding containers into service during the 12 month period must apply for a mobile waste container permit and pay prorated fees.
Public Works must be notified monthly if a mobile waste container moves to a new/different location. Businesses should use the Mobile Waste Container Permit Form to update mobile waste container location information.

All permits must be obtained and permit decals affixed to vehicles and containers by July 1 of each year. All permits need to be renewed annually.
Electronic Form Submission

Pursuant to the Metropolitan Code 10.20.090, the Director shall designate Environmental Enforcement Officers to inspect, investigate and enforce the provisions of this Chapter. A violation of any provision of this Chapter shall be subject to a fine of not more than fifty dollars for each day the violation continues.
The Director shall enforce the provisions of this chapter and he/she or his/her duly authorized Enforcement Officers may enter with the consent of the owner or occupant or with a valid search warrant, and upon presentation of proper identification, any building, structure or premises within the area or jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Government to perform any duty or responsibility imposed upon him/her by this chapter.
