Nancy Whittemore
Board MemberNancy Whittemore began her public career as the Director of the Knoxville-Knox County Foster Grandparent Program in 1978. She joined State Government in 1982 as part of the Governor’s State Planning Office. From 1983 until 1991, she was the Director of Community Services for the Department of Human Services where she managed a variety of state and federal programs.
In 1991, Nancy moved to the Department of Finance and Administration as the Director of Resource Development and Support. Here she was responsible for the offices of Contract Review, Program Accountability Review, Criminal Justice Programs, and the Tennessee Commission on National and Community Services.
Nancy served as Metro's Assistant Finance Director, a position she held since September 2001. On January 16, 2004, she was appointed as the Director of General Services for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
Originally from Maryville, Tennessee, Nancy received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and a graduate degree in Public Administration from Tennessee State University.
