Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a man, tentatively identified as a 19-year-old, who was found in foliage adjacent to the Kwik Stop Market at 3710 Gallatin Pike at mid-afternoon. The investigation shows that the death is connected to Tuesday night’s attempted theft of a Ford Taurus from the market parking lot.
At 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, the 28-year-old attempted car theft victim left the market to find Jaden Webb, 20, of Stateline Road in Clarksville, sitting in the driver seat of his car, which had been left unlocked and running. The victim confronted Webb, who accelerated and tried to flee, dragging the victim who was hanging onto the driver door. Webb crashed into an SUV (also stolen) in which he had arrived. An occupant of the SUV got out and, according to the victim, kicked him as he was holding Webb at gunpoint. The victim fired one shot at the second man who then fled on foot across the market parking lot. The deceased man found today is that second individual.
Detectives will be talking further with the attempted car theft victim who fired the shot as part of the death investigation.
Webb is jailed on charges of auto theft, aggravated assault, possession of burglary tools, evading arrest and resisting arrest.
