Join us as we collaborate to offer driver services which include REAL ID Licenses, Renewal or Replacement Licenses, Graduated Drivers Licenses, and Photo Identification Services.
"Our office is proud to provide such an important and much needed service to the Nashville community. Besides offering these services with convenience and safety, it will also allow individuals to explore other needed services provided by the Deeds office that they may need while visiting our new location," stated Register of Deeds Karen Johnson.
To secure your REAL ID License, the following are needed: All proofs of residency must be printed out and all government issued documents (birth certificate, passport, marriage certificate, etc.) must be original, no copies. Name changes different than birth certificates require providing legal name change document, marriage certificate and divorce decrees if necessary.
Applicants can upload documents for preapproval; however, you will still need to bring all documents to the event for final approval. Documents should be uploaded 5 days prior to event to guarantee preapproval at tn.gov/safety.
Credit and debit cards are the only forms of payment accepted for costs associated with the following:
- Duplicates - $8.00 for first; $12.00 after first duplicate
- Renewals - $28.00 and up depending on endorsements.
- ID Cards - Under 18 $4.50 and $12.00 over 18. New ID cards require documents listed prior.
- Reinstatement Information - free letter printed out with detailed information needed for reinstatement.
Beginning February 1, 2026, travelers will be required to pay a $45 fee without a REAL ID or other acceptable ID like a passport. Space is limited and sign-ups are required.

About the Register of Deeds Office
The Register of Deeds is a constitutional office established by the Tennessee General Assembly as the custodian of legal documents pertaining to real property. The office is currently led by Karen Johnson, who made history as the first woman and African American elected to the position.
