RESOLUTION NO. R99-1535
A resolution honoring Miss Lauren Elise Briggance Simpson.
WHEREAS, Miss Lauren Elise Briggance Simpson, with the help of her family, extended family, neighbors, friends, councilpersons, legislators, policemen, doctors, firemen, and anyone else who would buy Girl Scout cookies, this year sold a total of 1,440 boxes of cookies the highest number sold in her service unit; and
WHEREAS, Lauren, who will turn 10 years old on October 15, 1999, is an above average 7th grade student at Ewing Park Middle School where she is a cheerleader, and she actively participates in speech contests, modeling, acting, dance, recitals, play acting, and she has appeared in several locally produced videos and commercials; and
WHEREAS, Lauren, presently a Cadet in Girl Scout Troop #2213, has been active in Girl Scouting since the age of four, has always been in the top bracket for cookie sales year after year; and
WHEREAS, Lauren is a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she attends Sunday School each Sunday; and
WHEREAS, Lauren has one brother and one sister, James Reginald and Jaquay Raven Simpson, and she is the daughter of James and Viveca Briggance Simpson, the granddaughter of Richard and Fenecia Briggance, and the great-granddaughter of Emma K. Pratt; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Lauren Elise Briggance Simpson for her hard work and dedication to the community through her service in the Girls Scouts of America.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring Miss Lauren Elise Briggance Simpson for her hard work and dedication to the community through her service in the Girl Scouts of America.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Miss Lauren Elise Briggance Simpson.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
