RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-362
A resolution proclaiming Tuesday, October 17, 2000, as Academy for Women of Achievement Day.
WHEREAS, on Tuesday, October 17, 2000, the YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee along with Paine Webber will be celebrating the ninth annual recognition of the Academy; and
WHEREAS, the Academy for Women of Achievement was established in 1992, to honor women whose excellence and leadership in their chosen fields serve as role models for other young women and girls; and
WHEREAS, the 2000 inductees are Barbara G. Chazen, Mary Dean Eberling, Jo D. Federspiel, Judith O. Liff, Nancy A. Ransom, and Joyce Espy Searcy, who each has made a difference in the community in which they live and work; and
WHEREAS, this group of highly-esteemed women are all well deserving of this distinguished honor and have shown what it takes to achieve; and
WHEREAS, they are being recognized for their efforts in which they have created starting points from which many others have gone on to achieve; and
WHEREAS, these remarkable women have inspired others to reach higher, go further and are working to make Nashville a better place live; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize October 17, 2000, as Academy for Women of Achievement Day.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as proclaiming Tuesday, October 17, 2000, as Academy for Women of Achievement Day.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to the Academy for Women of Achievement.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
