RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-395
A resolution honoring the late Leroy Hollis as former long-time coach and assistant Glencliff High School principal.
WHEREAS, the passing of Leroy Hollis in October of 1999, at the age of 69, has brought a great loss to the family, community, former colleagues and many friends of this beloved individual; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his vast and diverse career at Glencliff High School he served approximately four years as councilmember of the 30th District of Davidson County; and
WHEREAS, Leroy Hollis served as former football coach of Glencliff High School from 1964-1970, beginning his high school football career as an assistant in 1959, under the leadership of Herschal Moore; and
WHEREAS, former Head Coach Hollis guided the Glencliff football team to the Clinic Bowl in 1964; and
WHEREAS, in honor of his contributions and dedication on Friday, September 8, 2000, in a pre-game ceremony, before the Glencliff vs. Whites Creek football game, Glencliff renamed their football field Leroy Hollis Field; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council express their condolences to the family and friends of Leroy Hollis, and express sincere regret at his passing and share the joy of having this field dedicated in his honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the late Leroy Hollis as former long-time coach and assistant Glencliff High School principal.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of the Resolution to be presented to the family of Leroy Hollis.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
