RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1030
A resolution recognizing Miss Jewell's Third-Grade Class at Crieve Hall Elementary for Outstanding Citizenship.
WHEREAS, the third grade students in Miss Jewell's class have studied the basic principles and precepts of government and sought to place those principles into practice; and
WHEREAS, the students have designed their classroom to reflect the democratic practices set forth on the Constitution of the United States and daily model those in the form of their classroom rules and policies which include a Preamble to the Classroom Constitution; and
WHEREAS, Miss Jewell has allowed the students to elect a President, Vice President, Supreme Court and Congress to create rules and hear cases involving student infractions and provide for student input as to the disposition of certain infractions that may occur in the class; and
WHEREAS, each student in the classroom is being afforded the opportunity to learn democratic practices which encourage the development of positive behaviors and interaction and will assist those students in becoming viable and productive citizens; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Miss Jewell for her excellent repertoire of teaching strategies, creativity, innovation and vision of teaching for her third-grade class.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Miss Jewell's Third-Grade Class at Crieve Hall Elementary for Outstanding Citizenship.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Dr. Kaye Rackard, Principal of Crieve Hall Elementary School and Miss Jewell on behalf of the students.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
