Recycling Collection
Curbside recycling collection is provided to single-family homes in the Urban Services District of Nashville. Recycling is collected every other week. Residents in the General Services District and multi-family complexes throughout the county contract with private haulers for waste and recycling collection.

Composting Services
Nashville and Davidson County residents can take their food waste to any Metro Convenience Center free of charge. Residents and businesses have the option to pay for curbside compost collection. We also offer backyard compost bins for sale at our Omohundro Convenience Center.

Household Hazardous Waste
Many household items may be harmful to the environment if disposed of improperly. Metro residents can dispose of up to 15 gallons or 100 pounds of unwanted and unused household hazardous waste at the East or Ezell Pike Convenience Center each month at no charge.

Electronic Waste Recycling
Electronic waste is not allowed in waste containers and should be recycled. Nashville and Davidson County residents can recycle unwanted electronics at the East, Ezell Pike and Omohundro Convenience Centers at no charge.

Metro residents can take all kinds of unused, expired, or over-the-counter medications to several Metro Police Precincts.

Jackson Law
Metro Council passed Ordinance BL2016-484 enacting T.C.A. § 68-211-707, which specifically permits local government legislative bodies to make applicable the provisions of Part 7 of Chapter 211 of Title 68 of the Tennessee Code Annotated. It requires local approval of landfills, solid waste disposal facilities and solid waste processing facilities prior to the construction of such facilities and prior to the issuance of a permit by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
