Community Centers and Recreation

The Metropolitan Nashville Board of Parks and Recreation operates 23 recreation centers throughout the city. These facilities provide a wide range of programs and services to all members of the community. 

Neighborhood centers offer a range of recreation, sports, arts and youth enrichment activities at convenient locations throughout the city. Our larger regional recreation center facilities, including Coleman, East, Hadley, Hartman, and McCabe offer enhanced amenities and programs as well as extended hours.

Each of our regional recreation facilities include a fully-equipped fitness center with the latest aerobic and strengthening equipment, gymnasium, indoor walking/running track, dance/exercise studio, arts and crafts room, multi-use meeting space and game room. Most regional facilities feature an indoor swimming pool as well.

A year-round priority for our regional and neighborhood centers is programming for school-aged children. During the school year, a primary focus of community centers is after-school programming, while during the summer, the focus shifts to our youth enrichment day program. Children can participate in an organized program that includes competitive sports, organized games, cultural arts, environmental awareness, fitness activities and homework help.

Programs for senior citizens are offered at most recreation center locations, while Elizabeth Center is dedicated solely to serving senior patrons. In addition, programs designed specifically for patrons with disabilities are offered at the Hartman Community Center location.

2013 Summer Youth Programs

Summer Youth Enrichment Program registration will begin on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the opening of business at each community center. Please contact the desired community center location directly for more information. Spaces are limited, and registrations are accepted in person on a first come, first served basis.
