The Nashville Business Journal has selected the Assessor of Property Vivian Wilhoite’s Office of Assessments as a finalist for the NBJ’s 2022 Best in Business Awards. Nominees for the award are submitted by members of the public, then reviewed by an independent panel of judges grading the organization’s culture, management, business strategy, and other criteria. Category winners will be announced on May 26, 2022.
“I’m pleased and excited that our office has been recognized for its work during a period of unprecedented growth in Nashville and Davidson County,” said Assessor Wilhoite. “Our goal is to make sure the valuation of every parcel of property is fairly reached and each property owner knows and understands the process and their rights to appeal our decision. This is why we have conducted a massive number of outreach presentations. Selected as one of the finalist means our amazing employees’ hard work is being recognized.”
The Assessor of Property’s Office of Assessments appraises and classifies more than 270,000 parcels of property, tracking property improvements, and ensuring each property is fairly valued and equity is maintained county-wide. The office is required by state law to reappraise all taxable properties in Davidson County every four years and work hard to keep the Davidson County community and elected officials informed if there is a net increase or decrease in aggregate property values.
The companies and agencies on this year's list showed tenacity and innovation, overcoming the challenges the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has presented to businesses everywhere, according to the Nashville Business Journal.
