On Thursday, February 23, 2023, Metro Water Services powered on the new solar array at the Whites Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, our largest solar array to date, leading to an immediate and noticeable reduction in energy use from the grid.
Solar energy is an essential part of Metro Water Service's commitment to creating a more sustainable footprint and will assist in offsetting energy costs. The 949-Kilowatt solar array at the Whites Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant consists of 2,315 panels and is expected to generate over 1,360,000 kilowatt hours per year. The treatment plant's solar array is one of six solar arrays consisting of 4,159 solar panels currently online at Metro Water Services. Two more planned projects will bring the total number of solar panels to over 10,000.
Each panel represents a part of our commitment to renewable energy and helping to meet Metro’s 100% renewable standard.
