Remember to help The Nashville Office of Emergency Management, Kroger and Second Harvest Food Bank collect food to serve families facing food insecurity, all day Thursday, November 13, 2025, starting at 8:00 a.m..
The team has 12-hours to "Fill the Boat" at Kroger located at 5713 Edmondson Pike, Nashville, Tennessee 37211.
Starting at 8:00 a.m. and continuing nonstop until 8:00 p.m., volunteers from OEM will be stationed in front of the Kroger store with a rescue boat to collect non-perishable food items for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
This event is even more important as thousands of Metro Nashville Davidson County residents face a lapse in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits in November.
During the event shoppers are asked to grab a couple of extra items to put in the OEM boat.
Items needed include:
- Peanut Butter
- Canned Meat (Chicken or Tuna)
- Canned Vegetables
- Canned Fruit
- Canned Meals (Entree or Soup)
- Pasta
- Pasta Sauce
- Cereal
- Rice
- Beans (Canned or Dry)
You can also make donations at any Kroger location. Monetary donations will also be accepted in lieu of a food donation.
For people facing a lack of food or food insecurity you can find available resources at Nashville.Gov/Food.
