The Nashville Financial Empowerment Center offers free, one-on-one financial counseling to Davidson County residents.
A partnership of the Mayor’s Office and United Way of Greater Nashville, the Nashville Financial Empowerment Center helps people move from a state of instability to a state of empowerment with new savings habits, higher credit scores and lower debt burdens. Since opening its doors in 2013, the Nashville Financial Empowerment Center has helped 8,400 clients reduce their debt by $16.5 million and increase their savings by $3 million.
Whether you are in chronic financial trouble, an unexpected crisis arises, or you just want to make sure you are on the right track, individualized counseling can move you toward greater financial stability. Managing bills, working through debt, budgeting, improving your credit, establishing a savings habit, opening a bank account – you name it. Becoming financially empowered means you can save for an emergency, purchase a car or a home, get a degree to improve your wages, or start a small business. Work with a financial counselor is client-led, so whatever circumstance or goals you come in with, a counselor can help you design a plan of action and provide encouragement along the way. Sometimes you just need someone to assure you there is a path forward.
All free, financial counseling sessions are currently virtual. Counseling is available in English and Spanish with access to language and translation services in most languages.
