On observed holidays, most Metro offices should be considered closed for business with the public. All qualified employees will be excused with compensation. Exceptions are departments, offices, and employees who are required to maintain essential or emergency operations.
Holidays that fall on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday, while holidays that fall on Saturday will be observed on the Friday before by employees working Monday through Friday.
When Christmas Day falls on a Monday, the Christmas Eve holiday will be observed on Tuesday following Christmas Day. When Christmas falls on a Saturday, the Christmas holiday will be observed on the following Monday.
If a holiday is observed on an employee's day off, the employee may be scheduled for a floating holiday during the week of the holiday or the following week.
The Director of Human Resources has the discretion to change dates as needed.
