The Nashville Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) is fully staffed for this year’s Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th Celebration.
DEC has activated its Nashville Telecommunicator Emergency Response Team (NTERT) who will be strategically located in the field. NTERT personnel will work side-by-side with police, fire, and EMS. The team will also use Prepared 911 to share live video, caller location, and texts with first responders when seconds count.
"Fourth of July in Nashville is one of the biggest events of the year, broadcast to a viewing audience nationwide" said DEC Director Stephen Martini. "Our people are ready and proud to serve the city and its visitors."
If You're Attending Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th Celebration
- It takes all of us to keep events like this safe and enjoyable. If you see something that seems out of place or strange, say something and report it right away to the nearest uniformed Metro Nashville Police Officer. If you can't find one nearby, call 911.
- Download the what3words app. It lets you share a three-word location so responders find you fast. It's an easy way to find friends in a crowd or to set a meeting spot. It breaks the map into small squares and gives each one a unique three-word location like ///guitar.stage.lights. Watch this quick video to learn how it works.
Have children and plan on taking them with you to watch fireworks? Take a quick photo of your child when you arrive; you'll have a current picture to be able to share with dispatchers or field responders if you get separated.
DEC Also Reminds the Community
