About the Department
Did you know that every Nashvillian throws away approximately 4,000 pounds of garbage each year that goes to landfill?
All that trash doesn’t have to be trash. Instead, we can rethink our relationship with “waste” to divert what doesn’t have to be trash away from landfills. We can all:
- Reduce how much waste we create
- Reuse what we already have
- Recycle what can be made into new things
- Compost food scraps to grow healthy food and plants
