Nashville Waste Services (NWS) is conducting a final recovery surge today, February 2 to make up for missed trash routes during last week’s winter storm. This represents the final day of makeup collections as the department transitions to its new trash and recycling collection schedule tomorrow, February 3.
The Final Recovery Push (Ending Today, February 2)
Crews are currently working today, February 2 to complete all remaining makeup routes, where conditions allow, for Monday (1/26), Tuesday (1/27), Wednesday (1/28) and Thursday (1/29).
- Final Deadline: Makeup operations will conclude tonight. Any residential trash not collected by the end of today's operation will be serviced on the resident's new scheduled collection day starting this week. Residents can use the new schedule look-up tool to find their new service day.
- Instruction: If your trash has not been picked up yet this week, keep your cart at the curb until collected. Crews are working extended hours throughout the day and evening to clear as many locations as possible.
- Trash Only: Collections teams are today focusing exclusively on household trash. Curbside recycling remains paused until the new trash and recycling collection schedule begins tomorrow Tuesday, Feb. 3.
The New Collection Schedule Launch (Starts Tomorrow, February 3)
The transition to Nashville’s new trash and recycling collection schedule begins tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3. Once the new schedule begins, drivers will follow the new collection routes exclusively.
- Look up tool and schedule calendar: Residents are urged to use the look-up tool and collection schedule calendar to confirm their new service day, as over 60% of households have a new date. Note: Under the new collection schedule, recycling weeks for residents may have changed.
Emergency Drop-Off Sites
To provide immediate relief for residents, NWS has activated Emergency Trash Drop-Off Sites at the following locations. These sites are free of charge and strictly for bagged household trash only. Locations at Metro Nashville Public School sites will remain open through Monday, February 2 with all other sites open through Saturday, February 7. Sites will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m:

Convenience Centers
To provide residents with additional options for material disposal, all four Metro Convenience Centers—which are normally closed on Mondays—will remain open Monday, February 2 (8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) and on regular hours (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) through Saturday, February 7.
Fee Waiver: Fees remain waived for all residents at these locations through Saturday, February 7.
