Energy Assistance Programs
Applicants must live within Davidson County. Eligible residents must meet the Federal Income Guidelines and other program criteria prior to approval of assistance. All assistance is a one-time award per program year, which begins July 1 through June 30 of the following year. Customer Care hours are Monday through Thursday from 8am until 3pm. Customers may also mail or bring their completed applications with all documentation to the office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
Our energy assistance application is located on the Metro Action Commission home page. If you do not have income, you should also complete the self declaration of zero income also found on our main page.
LIHEAP provides assistance with payments of Electric, Gas, Propane or other energy resource bills. You do not have to own the home to get assistance and your energy source does not have to be gas or electric in order to receive services (propane, wood, kerosene and coal are also covered under this program).
If you need assistance it is important that your services are in an “active status” meaning your service has not been disconnected due to non-payment. We cannot pay on an account that requires reconnection fee or deposit under this program. Please allow us enough time to process your payment prior to the threat of disconnection, otherwise it would be necessary for you to settle any fees prior to assistance from us.
Please be sure to bring your proof of income of everyone that earns an income within the home (if you do not have income, please complete the form above), the 12 month billing history provided by your energy supplier, social security cards of everyone in the home and the most current monthly bill.
Applications may be mailed or brought in to our office. We are located in the Clifford Allen Building, 800 2nd Avenue North, Nashville, TN 37201. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 196300, Nashville, TN 37219-6300.
